Guided, one image held for a long time, ends on the singing bowl. Music underneath
The weather changes. The mountain does not. An old meditation of mine, back by request, for when everything outside you is going off.
About 18 minutes, ending on the singing bowl.
You picture a mountain in real detail, the trees, the snow, the clouds sitting on top of it. Then you let it become you. Storms arrive on the outside and it stays exactly where it is. I leave you sitting in that for a couple of minutes and keep an eye on the clock.

Who this is for
The weather changes. The mountain does not.
This is an older meditation of mine that somebody wrote in to say was missing from the podcast, so here it is.
What happens in this meditation
You start with a deep breath and your arms above your head, then let them down onto your thighs. Back upright, chin tucked slightly, as though a cord above your head were holding you.
Then a mountain. Yours, in real detail. Trees, snow near the top, clouds sitting above it, perhaps a lake.
You notice it stays serenely calm whatever the weather does. Then you let it become you. Grounded, stable, ready for whatever arrives on the outside.
And it is not only the strength. The trees, the birds, the snow, all of the life on it is part of what makes it what it is.
Then I leave you sitting in that for a couple of minutes and keep an eye on the clock, and bring you back with the singing bowl.
How to get the most from it
Eighteen minutes, and sit upright rather than lying down. The posture is part of the image.
Build the mountain properly. A vague one does not hold. A specific one, somewhere you have actually been or a picture you know, does.
If you drift off, it does not matter. Come back and rejoin whenever you notice.
Questions people ask
Does this stop the storm?
No, and it is not trying to. It changes what the storm lands on, which is the only part of it available to you.
Why a mountain rather than something moving?
Because the point is the not moving. Everything else in the image changes and it stays exactly where it is.
Why the singing bowl at the end?
It brings you back without a jolt, which suits an eighteen minute sit better than a count does.
