About this meditation

Nothing to picture and nowhere to walk. Just short lines, said twice, until your mind stops arguing about whether it is safe to sleep.

About 15 minutes. Only listen where it is safe to sleep.

My bedroom is ideal for deep healing sleep. Today is already over. My heart is grateful, my mind is quiet, my body is sleeping. You repeat each one after me and they get slower and quieter as we go. It is the plainest thing on the feed, and for some people it is the only one that works.

Who this is for

You cannot be doing with a story tonight. No garden, no forest, no walking anywhere.

This is the plainest thing on the feed and for some people it is the only one that works. Only listen somewhere it is safe to fall asleep.

What happens in this meditation

There is nothing to picture. Just a line, said by me, and then said again for you to repeat.

My bedroom is ideal for deep healing sleep. My body is relaxing. My mind is slowing down. I am feeling safe and secure.

Then the one that does more than it looks like it should. Today is already over.

They get slower and quieter and further apart as it goes, and towards the end it settles onto three lines that just repeat until they stop.

My heart is grateful. My mind is quiet. My body is sleeping.

How to get the most from it

About fifteen minutes, and it thins out towards the end rather than finishing on anything.

Feel each line rather than say it. When you hear that your bedroom is ideal for sleep, notice the bed and the dark and the weight of the covers. The body responds to that far more than to the words.

Repeat them if you want to, out loud or in your head, and stop repeating them the moment that becomes work.

Questions people ask

Do affirmations work if I do not believe them?

They are not doing what you think. You are not convincing yourself of a fact, you are giving a busy mind one short quiet thing to hold instead of everything else, and it settles.

What does today is already over mean?

Exactly what it says. Whatever is unfinished is not getting finished tonight. Most people are lying there negotiating with a day that has already gone.

Is there a bell or a wake up at the end?

No. It fades out. Nothing brings you back.
